With $1 million in funding, KidsLink launches platform to organize America’s families

Innovator makes debut at Type-A Parent Conference

ATLANTA – Sept. 27, 2013 – On the heels of a successful pilot program at several prominent metro Atlanta preschools, family management app KidsLink announces its beta-launch on September 27, 2013 at the Type-A Parent Conference in Atlanta. Designed for modern parents to manage the infant through adolescent years of their children’s lives, the KidsLink platform includes a dashboard app which features a vault to store and share important documents and milestones, as well as reminders to maintain family wellness.

“Today’s parents have to track a mountain of paperwork for their family—from immunizations to field trip releases to sports physicals—because most institutions and organizations struggle with legacy systems,” says Chris Morocco, CEO of KidsLink. “KidsLink streamlines family organization to allow moms to focus on the business of being a mother, not an administrator.”

Through KidsLink, moms and dads can import, aggregate and share important documents on their smart phone, tablet or desktop, rendering hard copy forms—like health insurance or immunization records—obsolete. In addition, KidsLink users also receive seasonal and developmental alerts and helpful prompts to visually capture major milestones and life events, such as first steps or the first day of school. Complete with social sharing capabilities and Facebook compatibility, KidsLink offers connected parents the ability to then share important moments in their children’s lives with their online community.

KidsLink is initially targeting distribution of its dashboard app via channels that parents already rely on today as trusted advisors, including hospitals, pediatricians, OBs, and preschools, though users may access or install the beta app directly by visiting mykidslink.com.

To date, KidsLink has received over $1 million in funding from several investors, including BLH Venture Partners, as well as former ChoicePoint, Inc., President and COO Doug Curling, and his investment firm New Kent Capital.

Moms as Leading Tech Adopters

Moms are not newcomers to the technological frontier. In fact, recent studies have shown that women are the leading tech adopters in internet and mobile phone usage as well as social networking. The modern mother not only embraces the benefits of technology, but she also harnesses it in all aspects of her life, including parenting. KidsLink enables connected moms to bypass the current outdated medical and milestone documentation tools and use technology to facilitate a new level of family organization.

Following the beta-launch at the Type-A Parent Conference, users will be able to access and/or install the app at www.mykidslink.com. The dashboard will be available to beta users on their desktops, tablets and mobile devices.

KidsLink marks the end of its first preschool registration season; announces team

April 3, 2013
Today, KidsLink officially concluded its first season as the choice provider of preschool registration and data exchange services. With KidsLink’s service, youth organizations can administer both their entire application process and their ongoing management of forms throughout the year.  KidsLink allows administrators to manage by exception, focusing efforts on registrants that may need assistance. From a parent’s perspective, “This also serves as a sea-change for the future of family document management, the ‘beginning of the end’ for obsolete paper-based registration,” noted KidsLink CEO Chris Morocco. According to Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool Communications Director Beth Copeland, “We have been searching for a way to consolidate and simplify the admission process and eliminate paperwork for both the parents and the Preschool.  KidsLink provides the tool to efficiently coordinate registration and student record forms. “Parents have been enthusiastic about the new online registration, and the support we’ve received from KidsLink has made the conversion seamless.  After the success of our registration process, we’re really looking forward to having KidsLink help us with our data management throughout the school year.” Stated KidsLink’s co-founder Scott Powers, “Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool has been a perfect partner for us.  We’ve learned so much from them and look forward to continue helping their staff and parents throughout their school year.” Looking to the future, CEO Morocco said, “In the coming years, moms and dads will never again have to juggle hundreds of paper forms and documents just to manage their kids’ lives.  Instead, it’ll all be contained in one app on their computers or mobile phones.”

Management Team

KidsLink, formed in 2012 after several years of an early concept in the Sunday schools of middle Georgia, officially announces its veteran management team:

Chris Morocco, CEO

Prior to KidsLink, Chris served as CEO and board member of Petrus Brands, the owner and operator of two national franchise concepts: Planet Smoothie and Shane’s Rib Shack. Chris led the management buyout of the $80 MM franchise-based brand portfolio in the fast-casual dining and healthy lifestyle categories from Raving Brands. Three years later he orchestrated the sale of two of the brands to a strategic buyer. Chris received a degree in Business Administration from Clemson University where he was the starting quarterback for the 1989 Gator Bowl Champions. He is married with three children and resides in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.

Joey Katzen, Chief Product Officer

Joey Katzen is an entrepreneur and attorney whose expertise has been instrumental in the founding and growth of multiple Inc-500 companies.  As a member of the 2004 founding team of Atlanta-based Vendormate, he oversaw a considerable amount of startup work, helping to distill the team’s creative ideas into viable and marketable concepts and helping to oversee the flagship product’s workflow, technical requirements, and interface architecture.  Most recently he served as CEO of DC-based Roomtag, a real-estate software company.  Joey received degrees in engineering and literature/communications from Georgia Tech and a law degree from the University of Virginia.

Scott Powers, Co-Founder and Advisor

A lifelong Southerner with operational drive and an entrepreneurial spirit, it was the experience of raising two active daughters that ultimately led Scott Powers to propose the early concept of KidsLink.  After attending Union University, Scott has spent over 20 years managing teams charged with ensuring compliance with three different Fortune 500 companies.  Scott is oft credited for his ability to simplify the complicated to non-technical people, earning him accolades as an operational teacher and occasional trainer.  He resides with his wife and children in Alpharetta, Georgia.
